Spring is upon us and even though we may not be able to make the most of it due to social distancing and all that, we can still enjoy it virtually through the stereoscope. This month, we are welcoming to our gallery Japanese stereo photographer Yoshifumi Takatsume and I am confident some of his pictures will bring a smile to your face. We need more smiles in these unprecedented times which, strangely enough, may make us appreciate the beauty of nature a bit more. All these things we take for granted suddenly become more valuable when we are deprived of them. So thank you very much, Yoshifumi, for sharing those images. Keep up the good work !

“Konnichiwa! My name is Yoshifumi Takatsume. I’m working near the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. I am a researcher studying medicine and life science. I take stereo photos not only for hobbies but also for work. I think stereo photography is an effective tool for education.

One of the things that I like about stereo photography is that I can experience different eye widths from human ones. It’s fun to feel the giant eyes and insect eyes through stereo photography. So I like hyper stereo and macro stereo.

Here are some such photos. I hope you will enjoy my stereos.”
